“Winning a ProTour so quickly was a shock to me” – Beau Greaves begins as the overwhelming favourite at Women’s World Matchplay

Beau Greaves heads into this weekend as the overwhelming favorite at the Women’s World Matchplay. The top-seeded Englishwoman has been in unprecedented form for over a year and, according to title sponsor Betfred (1/7), is the leading contender to lift the prestigious title for a third time. Last year, the title went to her rival Lisa Ashton.

That comes as no surprise when looking at the 22-year-old’s results over the past twelve months. Greaves has significantly raised her level again and dominated the PDC Women’s Series like never before.

Between April 2025 and March 2026, she went unbeaten in no fewer than 114 consecutive matches. In that remarkable run, she also captured seventeen successive titles, a feat that further underlined her status as the undisputed number one in women’s darts.

Greaves also showcased her class immediately on the regular PDC Tour. In her first season as a Tour Card holder, she claimed Players Championship 11 in April and made history. She became the first woman ever to win a PDC ranking title.

Greaves herself did not expect that success to come so quickly. “Winning a ProTour so quickly was a shock to me,” said the Englishwoman. “I know I can play darts, but the quality on tour is unreal, so I thought I’d need more time to settle in.”

The historic victory gave Greaves great confidence, yet she still relishes the chance to play the best darters in the world every week. “It’s amazing for me to play players that I’ve always watched growing up. I love darts, I love playing darts, so it’s all a bonus for me.”

After her historic season, Greaves now sets her sights on another major prize. For most players, the Women’s World Matchplay is one of the absolute highlights of the year, and the tournament holds special meaning for the Englishwoman as well. “This is a tournament we all look forward to. It is great for the women's game, and I’m really excited to be back.”

On paper, Greaves once again looks like the woman to beat. Although former world champion Lisa Ashton posted fine results in 2025, the current world number one has stood head and shoulders above the field in recent months. Her dominance on the Women’s Series and her breakthrough on the ProTour make it clear that Greaves currently belongs to the absolute world elite, regardless of the circuit she competes on.

The hunt for her third Women’s World Matchplay title begins with a clash against Finland’s Kirsi Viinikainen. Greaves will enter that matchup full of confidence, but she also knows the standard in women’s darts keeps rising and every opponent will be eager to knock out the top favourite.

Still, the conclusion beforehand is clear: if Greaves hits her usual level, the path to a third Women’s World Matchplay crown is wide open. After a year in which she broke records, made history, and won nearly everything there was to win, the Englishwoman looks ready to leave her mark on women’s darts once again.
